Heroes

Anita Alvare knows how to think. I’ve been reading and admiring all the blog articles of hers that I can find.

One of my favorites that I just read is about who our heroes are. Read it here.

I answered myself real fast to figure out who are mine. And I’ve come to this conclusion. Pastors. Nurses. And Madam Turnbull (pictured below with a [much] younger me). Yep.

Pastors because they are so brave to stand up and unashamedly preach the Word. I respect the ones who show heart and are true blue. (Not all are). There have been several that I hold in high regard because their life testimonies have been a great influence in my life as a very young, growing Christian.

And nurses. Doctors. As a child I never would have admitted this–but yes, they are. Ever since an incredible team helped me deliver my son and then help us through his RSV at 10 months, I’ve placed them on a pedestal.

(Not to mention all that they have to deal with amidst the coronavirus business…)

And finally, Madam Turnbull. A missionary to Haiti who has made an incredible difference. After she and her husband got married and lived in Haiti, only a minute percentage of Haitians could read… now 50% (likely more now) can!! What does that mean? That they can read the Bible! To visit with her and see her heart—you not want her to stop speaking, like, ever. That is hero status.

No, I know none of these heroes of mine are perfect. (Perfection was not a qualification). But when you’re real, you care for people, and about me and my son—you pretty much mess with my heart for good.

So.

Who is your hero?

About THis blog

Grace + Common Sense

This world is crazy and if I pay too much attention to it I will lose heart and mind. So what to do? Lavishly sprinkle grace and common sense unto everything: motherhood, spiritual and mental health, wellness, fitness. Life.

Common sense is a luxury… and grace is often withheld where it could be poured out. Thankfully, we have such THE Perfect Example to follow.

This is what my blog is all about.
