Maybe? But actually, I don’t really care …
Let me tell you something wild–the scale doesn’t make rhyme or reason for me. I can weigh 6 pounds different within minutes. I don’t know, but I don’t want to play that kind of game.
The Measure
For me, a measure for strength and progress is being able to pick up my 7-year-old–who is about half my weight whatever that is–from the couch or floor to standing and not drop him on the way to place him gently in his bed.
Well, that, and how clothes hang on my frame.
These are so practical and realistic ways to visualize that type of success. At least it is for me. And it’s okay if I’m alone on this.
This truth bomb is living rent-free in my brain:

Sure, it’s a perk to feel comfortable putting on that swimsuit or that dress, whatever it is, but what has much more priority is wanting to be strong, active, and thriving as my kiddos grow up … and their kiddos … and their kiddos … and–oh, okay.
And also, another post (that I am not sure where to re-find) is a new level of fitness, but in the mind. Its being so confident in your skin that you don’t feel the need to show it off. Now that is a whole vibe and mindset. That, my friend, is goals.
The Method
Okay, so almost 20 weeks ago I started doing one full-body exercise with weights before I hopped into the shower. After about 10 weeks of being consistent with that I advanced to an actual workout program. But 10 minutes long. And for the very first time I have fully completed the 4-week routine and am in the middle of a second go.
It’s Kari Pearce’s PHIIT Mom program. And let me tell you: it is amazing. Think 10 minutes won’t accomplish much? Guess again.
If there’s one individual you should take cues from when it comes to fitness, it’s personal trainer Kari Pearce. The four-time Fittest American Woman victor and six-time CrossFit Games competitor has dedicated her life to motivating others to live with purpose and better health in mind. And while she’s constantly on the go maintaining her business and Instagram account, which boasts around 495,000 followers, the third fittest woman on Earth (!) still manages to find time to put her phone down long enough for nice walks, sleep and the best fajitas in Sin City.
[emphasis mine]
From this amazing source.
(She’s just plain ah-mazing). Also, she is now a mom.
I have big plans to at do least one more round after this one and then see if I can amp things up a bit. Or not. I mean, I love Pilates and would love to work that in somehow. Eh, I’ll let you know how I figure this out.
I absolutely love Joel Freeman’s LIIFT 4 workouts (and I hear he has a whole new plan out!) and Megan Davies’ thirty-minute sweat fests but since I don’t subscribe to BODi anymore, I will have to figure out how to do something comparable.
I do have FitOn. [It’s free. And if you sign up through this link–all of you–I may eventually earn a free pro-subscription of it. Hey. Hey.]
All the things.
But as these days of growth carry on, I will cross those bridges when I get there.
The Message
Welp, this was short–but hopefully a good one.
If you’re feeling stuck with your fitness… you don’t have to be! Start with one full-body exercise (it doesn’t even have to be weighted) you enjoy, do that when it is most convenient for you to be consistent–and I guarantee you will meet a new you–regardless of what you do.
And maybe you’re with me and see fitness in a new way . . . something to achieve and not brag about or reveal to a world that doesn’t care that much. Or at least not as much as the people that care the most about you.
Thanks for being here and being a part of this little chat.
