Some thoughts from the hairdresser’s chair

“Is it possible for hair to get even better the second time?” Famous words of my husband after my recent haircut. I’ve been to All Things Nikki for my second cut now and I’m really loving my hair–very much like I used to when living in south Florida. I had the dream hairstylist there. Her name was (er, is) Donna.
In Miami I went to my husband’s grandmother’s hairdresser. She was good at what she did but I felt like I wasn’t allowed to touch my own hair on the way out of the salon. She hated my greys and would talk about dying it every time I saw her. That got old.
Now, I am loyal to a fault, so I took a risk, but I was supported and even encouraged to do so. I did a bold thing and changed who I was coming in to see and my appointments were set for another girl’s chair. (I had observed her during my other visits and suspected she would be a better fit.)
And thus I began to love my hair even more.
Fast forward however many years later and my husband (of all people) found a salon not too far from here that he thought I would like and set up an appointment for me. [I’ve been to a couple other girls before this one and still highly recommend them.] Our new girl spent time doing hair for celebrities in NYC and honestly, immediately upon walking in, I knew I was going to love it there.
I even couldn’t stop smiling like an idiot after the ‘do.
And what’s more, she carries a product brand I love (Color WOW) and may even begin carrying Moroccanoil again.
Nikki could tell that the little hairs that were growing above my ears were so short because I’ve been scorching my hair—and she was so right! Besides finally getting a cut that really felt like the good old days in South Florida, one of the biggest takeaways from this visit was realizing was that I have been setting my flat iron at too high a temp!! My hair already feels so much better since turning that nob down. The old me had it up to the highest setting. Now it goes no higher than 392 degrees. Oddly specific but that’s my flatiron for you.
Oh, and since I am such a big sucker for new hair products I’ve been getting some to go.

Nikki has other dreams that she’s realizing in her business–her logo is an old-fashioned truck carrying things that make people happy–from food, hair, beauty, to tent parties for kids–she’s got a good thing going on! And it’s so inspiring. Her goal is to make people happy—and I love that so much.

Grey hair isn’t for everyone but since I cannot stand even the thought of committing to frequent color appointments, I’ve chosen the path of embracing the natural.
Ditch the dyes, girls, and choose the products that love your hair.
For no obligation whatsoever, you can learn about the new products I’m using and how you can make some $$$ with it. Use this passcode to watch: 8e6$a?RT (you’re going to want to copy/paste this unless you have a photographic memory.)
(It’s only 31 minutes and you can watch it at double speed. But really, it’s an excellent summation of an opportunity.) I’m here if you have any questions!
And there you have it. Thanks for reading along!
