A movie I’d watch again.

Last night, the kids and I piled on the couch and watched David. It’s been available on Netflix (but also on Angel and to purchase on Amazon and Apple) since about last Wednesday. It was originally released in 2025, so I was especially thrilled that my daughter said “Yes!” to my suggestion.

I’m telling you, you’re going to love it, too, if you haven’t seen it yet.

Don’t know about you, but I’m always so moved whenever I get to witness Scripture that I’ve known since a child come to life on a screen. And when they do a pretty great job, too? Even better. It didn’t matter how much I swallow, the lump in my throat was slow to go away.

If you saw any of the trailers for it, you were not ready to see Goliath! We all know how the story ends–he falls flat to the ground–but when the children of Israel let out their collective sigh, oh goodness. That’s my God that did that!! Nothing beats that feeling.

The music was exceptional. Phil Wickham plays the voice for the older David, so of course, there’s singing. And it’s incredible. I have to admit: I’ve been listening to the movie soundtrack all morning like a nerd.

I loved how the creatives depicted David, Jonathan, and Saul. And especially the touches added of David’s mother and younger sister.

Overall, what a good movie. A movie you can confidently show your family and come away singing praises to the True King. Can I get an amen?
